Mission

To utilize embodiment, curation of movement, and the capturing of bodies to preserve moments and physicalize specific theses on the intimacy of the human condition that are vital for the public to see. In doing this I hope to embody the beauty and strength in any body in any situation. This is with the hope that the work touches viewers, so that their situations and emotions feel validated through my work.

Artistic Statement

I am a Canadian artist who is actively acknowledging my lineage within this countries stolen land as an early colonizer of the Mi’kmaq peoples land Mi’kma’ki, currently known as Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. I am interrogating a feminist perspective within the framework of a traditional patriarchal society. I am interested in exploring love, or lack of, through established relationships and connections. This is examined through questions about the feminine being through societal gaze and it’s effect on my body. I am actively reclaiming the role of the female body and feminine energy while trying to dismantle the objectification that is connected to the form. A way to hold onto a part of myself and situations while also using different forms of my artistry to be a tool for reflection and questioning. I use my experience of the human relationship and their qualities as a framework to think through my practices. My work is deeply interconnected with my movement practice, my choreography, my photography, and questions that emerge from traditional roles within relationships and society.
